If you’re importing clothing from China, then this guide will surely help you. Let’s get started!
Why Should You Make a Sample Order with China Clothing Manufacturers?
You should make a sample order with China clothing manufacturers to test the quality of their products.
When you place a large order, you may be disappointed with the quality of the products you receive. By ordering a small sample, you can test the products’ quality and ensure they meet your standards before placing a larger order.
You can also use a sample order to get an idea of how long it will take for your order to be delivered. If you need the fabrics as soon as possible, you may need to choose a manufacturer who can deliver your order quickly.
Finally, using a sample order is a great way to save money. You can use the samples to determine which items you want to order in bulk and which things you can live without. It can help you keep costs down and ensure you only order the necessary items.
Key Reasons:
- To test the quality of products: Before placing a large order, you can order a small sample to test the quality and ensure the products meet your standards.

Now that we’ve discussed the reasons why you should make a sample order with China clothes manufacturers, let’s talk about the types of samples.
Types of Samples
There are six types of samples:
- Factory samples
- Custom-made product samples
- Production samples
- Virtual samples
- Fabric samples
- Counter-samples
Factory Samples:
Factory Samples are products that have been made in a factory setting. They are usually used as a reference for manufacturers when producing a new order.
Factory samples are often sent to customers to ensure that they are happy with the quality and style of the product before the final order is placed.
Custom Made Product Samples:
Custom-made product samples are created specifically for a customer’s order. They are usually made to the customer’s specifications and may differ slightly from the final product.
Custom-made product samples are often used to ensure that the customer is happy with the style and quality of the product before the final order is placed.
Production Samples:
Production samples are products that have been made in a production setting. They are usually used as a reference for manufacturers when producing a new order.
Production samples are often sent to customers to ensure that they are happy with the quality and style of the product before the final order is placed. A pre-production sample is also a type of this.
Virtual Samples:
Virtual samples are digital product images that can be viewed on a computer or mobile device. They are often used to give customers an idea of what the final product will look like.
Manufacturers usually create virtual samples that customers can send via email or social media.
Fabric Samples:
If you are quite new in this field and don’t have much experience in choosing fabrics. Ask your supplier to send fabric samples before placing a sample order for the clothing will be a good option. Fabric samples will be much lower than clothing samples. In this way, at least you won’t waste too much money if you are not satisfied with the quality.
Counter-Samples:
Counter-samples are products made in response to a customer’s sample. They are usually made to the customer’s specifications and may differ slightly from the final product.
Counter-samples are often used to ensure that the customer is happy with the style and quality of the product before you place the final order.
When you are ready to place an order with a China high-quality clothing manufacturer, it is essential first to make a sample order. This will allow you to see the quality of the clothing and ensure that it meets your standards.
How to Choose a China Clothing Manufacturer?
You should keep these things in mind when choosing China clothing suppliers.
Type of Products
First, you must decide what type of products you want to order.
Do you want t-shirts, hoodies, or hats? Normally the factory that produces t-shirt and hoodie won’t produce hats. Because the machine of making t-shirt is different from making hats. Once you know what product you want, you can start searching for manufacturers specializing in that type of product.
Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)
You should also consider the minimum order quantity (MOQ) of the manufacturers you are considering. The MOQ is the minimum number of items a manufacturer is willing to produce for you.
Normally 100pcs is the lowest MOQ for fully customized clothing in China. Because clothing production is a complicated process. Small quantity is very difficult for factories to arrange the production. If the factory is willing to offer you 30pcs-50pcs MOQ, please pay more attention to their quality and turnaround time.
Turnaround Time
Finally, you should be considered the turnaround time of the manufacturers you are considering. This is the time it will take for the manufacturer to produce your order.
If you are in a hurry, you will want to find a manufacturer with a short turnaround time. However, if you don’t need it in a hurry, you may be able to find a manufacturer with a longer turnaround time who can provide you with a better price.
Now that we’ve discussed choosing the right manufacturer for your needs. Let’s talk about what to expect from the production process.
What to Expect from the Production Process?
The production process can be divided into four steps: design, cutting, sewing, and packaging.
Design
Design is the process of creating a new product. To create a good design, you need to understand the products you are designing for. You also need to have a good idea of your target market and what they are looking for.
You can do a few things to improve your chances of designing a good product. First, you can research your target market. Second, you can create a prototype of your product and test it on potential customers.
Cutting
Cutting is the process of cutting the fabric to the correct size. This is an essential step in the production process because it ensures that all garment pieces are the same size.
Sewing
Sewing is the process of putting all the garment pieces together. This is an essential step in the production process because it ensures that the garment is put together correctly and that all the seams are strong.
Packaging
Packaging is the process of packaging the garment for shipping. This is an essential step in the production process because it ensures that the garment arrives at the customer’s doorstep in one piece. Quality control will also be included in the process.
Now that we’ve discussed what to expect from the production process, let’s talk about how you can place an order with a China clothing manufacturer.

Hello there, I am looking to have a sample of textiles sent to me for a product I have in mind. The type of textile I am looking for is totally waterproof, maybe using Gore-Tex or similar material to ensure it is 100% waterproof. I would also like to have the material lined on the inside for warmth but high breathability. Is there a manufacturer you could recommend for such a product? I would like to design the product from scratch but want to find the right material first.
